It is made with 8 tablets and has a tubular selvedge.<br>The orange arrow points to the tubular selvedge. That selvedge feels like a nice strong edge for any fabric that needs protection against wear. <br>The dark blue arrow shows the right side of the band. <br>The yellow arrow points to the wrong side of the band, and also at the point where the warp leaves the tubular selvedge and re-enters the warp threads of the band.<br><br>For this trial, I used very thin unplied woolen weft. That makes the band rather more firm than I had thought it would be.<br>Because of the difference between the edges (one tubular and one not) the band is not only flexible over the length but also very flexible over the width, it would have followed the curves of a cloth that was worn very beautifully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the picture above, the blue band 1 is knotted around the (orange and blue) band I use as a backstrap while weaving. That band is made from handspun merino\/tencel top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f6e2506ac7813683fde0c1e9f3f19904\">This is a post about weaving Finnish Iron Age bands with homespun weaving yarn.
